If you are world-weary or looking for a creative approach to healing, you are in the right place. As both a licensed mental health counselor and a licensed creative arts therapist, board certified in dance/movement therapy, I will encourage you to attend not just to your words, but to the messages that come from your body (includes your brain). I will introduce you to LivingDance(tm), to show you how to access and work with elements of dance and movement that relate to emotions, feelings of effectiveness, and identity development. You do not need talent or training to work with them. I founded Kinectionsâ" in 1984 to integrate dance, music, and traditional methods of counseling. While working with people struggling with eating disorders and histories of abuse, I combined mindfulness, kinesthetic sensing, developmental milestones, improvisational dance, and creative processes. The result: LivingDance, an approach to which most people seem to respond. In addition to using the LivingDance approach to work with individuals, couples, and groups, Kinections offers all the dance/movement therapy courses required for certification in dance/movement therapy. We are also the home of LivingMusic(tm). Locally, we offer monthly LivingDance~LivingMusic(tm) workshops . We also offer intensive LivingDance~LivingMusic programs nationally and internationally.

In the heart of every problem lies its solution. We spend enormous amounts of time and energy searching for answers outside ourselves, when the answers lie within. Heartwork is a creative process, which teaches one to find fundamental solutions to both everyday problems and the more difficult life questions, transforming "problems" into doorways to compassion, insight and joy. My award-winning book, "Heartwork: How To Get What You Really, REALLY Want" gives one my orientation and the primary tools for working through one's issues. The e-book version can be downloaded at my website: www.awakentheheart.org. View 15 Photos I enjoy working with individuals whose lives are not satisfying in some way. I also facilitate Inner Work Groups and Retreats, and do a great deal of work with people with relationship issues. To get a feel for how I work with relationships, you can read the two articles at https://awakentheheart.org/relationships-2/ on my website. We all want to be happy, but we look outside ourselves for the key to happiness, when happiness is always available if we just "stop, look, and listen!" to what is always here. Heartwork gives individuals tools to work through any issue that may arise which separates one from one's inherent wholeness and connection with others and the Universe/God.

Finding a therapist that works for you is a lot like dating; not every therapist that you meet is going to be "the one". You should never feel like you need to hide parts of yourself from your therapist. If you or your child are dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic event or loss, mood disruptions (anxiety, depression, anger), substance use, divorce or relationship challenges, I may be a good fit. I encourage you to reach out for a free consultation to see if we click. I have specialized training in the treatment of trauma related disorders and attachment issues. I utilize evidence-based techniques to support you in achieving your goals, assuming a non-judgmental and direct approach (with a healthy dose of humor). Asking for help is really hard. I'm glad you are considering taking this step. I would be honored to hear your story.

Welcome! Do you feel your child would benefit from a space to process their feelings and learn new skills? Are you in need of an empathetic and understanding ear to help you understand your family more fully? Are you in need of a space for yourself to navigate the messiness of life and engage in self exploration? I aim to provide a space where you, your child, or your family can feel and be human without judgement. I aim to work collaboratively and creatively to work through the barriers that exist with traditional therapeutic approaches. I aim to foster a strength based relationship and collaborative environment to support healing, healthy perceptions, and authentic expression. I believe everyone is capable and deserving of increasing their capacity to safely navigate their needs and wants. I would be honored to provide the structure, non-threatening space, and un-biased approach that can support this process for you. If any of the above sounds like something that resonates with you, your family, or your child, please reach out.

Shit has hit the fan and now you are left with the mess and while you are generally the one to help others, you are probably wondering where everybody goes when it's you who needs support. You may even start to wonder if you were kidding yourself to believe that you deserve to be helped the way you help others. Perhaps you are considering keeping quiet about your own struggles so you are not disappointed when others don't pull through for you. You have a right to your feelings, you deserve to be heard, and you deserve to heal as much as you help others heal. You can live your best life View 6 Photos If you're willing to look inward, have hard conversations, and change maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, I promise to work hard to understand your experiences and perspective, be honest with you about the apparent roadblocks in your goal achievement, challenge you to use your strengths and resiliency to break through those blocks, and honor you as a person. I will not treat you as a diagnosis; I will honor you as a person. Lastly, I promise that we will do all of this with a sense of humor because laughter is healing and it helps us to work through the pain. Together, we can get you on solid ground, repair the cracks in your foundation in order to build and successfully maintain the life you want
